Cookie DPT Bids Farewell to Its Central Flagship, but the Story Isn’t Over

After three and a half years of freshly baked cookies, stacked pancakes, and that unmistakable smell of butter and brown sugar wafting through Soho, Cookie DPT is closing its flagship café in Central. The final day of service will be November 9, marking the end of an era for one of Hong Kong’s most recognisable dessert brands.

The announcement came via co-founder Wil Fang, who shared that “ongoing challenges with rising operational costs and lease pressures” led to the difficult decision. It’s a familiar story for many small businesses in the city, but one that hits a little harder when it involves a brand that’s become part of Hong Kong’s weekend ritual.

Since its opening, Cookie DPT has grown from a humble online cookie drop to a full-fledged café loved for its indulgent, over-the-top creations — from mega croissants and gooey egg tarts to brunch plates and ice-cold coffees. The café became a community hub for dessert lovers and a must-stop for anyone craving comfort in cookie form.

In a statement, Fang thanked the city that helped shape the brand:

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s supported us — from our early cookie drops to our Central café regulars. This community has been the heartbeat of everything we do. This may be the end of one chapter, but our story isn’t over — we’re going to keep pushing forward.”

And push forward they will. Cookie DPT isn’t disappearing, just evolving. The brand will continue its online store with next-day delivery, as well as corporate catering and event collaborations. Fans can also catch them at their upcoming pop-up at the AIA Carnival at Central Harbourfront this December, where new sweet creations are set to debut.

Before the ovens turn off for good, Cookie DPT will host a farewell party this Saturday from 3PM, giving fans a final chance to grab their favourite cookies in person.
