Two Nights Only: Club Rangoon Pops Up at Venner for a Flavour-Packed Reunion

Some reunions just hit differently. On October 24th and 25th, Club Rangoon, the beloved Burmese restaurant that once brought Yangon’s soul to Hong Kong, will return for a special two-night takeover at its sister venue, Venner. It’s a short visit, but one that feels long overdue; a homecoming filled with flavour, nostalgia, and a few glasses of natural wine.

For those who remember, Club Rangoon first opened on Aberdeen Street back in 2020, introducing Hong Kong to Burmese cuisine in all its rich, layered depth. Founded by Yangon native Nelson Htoo, it was a restaurant built on memory — family recipes, childhood flavours, and a deep love for home. When the doors eventually closed in 2023 and the team relocated to Singapore, the city lost not just a restaurant, but a little slice of Yangon tucked between the city’s slopes.

Now, for two nights, that energy is coming back and it’s bringing the whole crew with it. Chef Noom will be behind the stove, serving her signature spin on Burmese comfort food: dishes that tell stories through spice, smoke, and soul. Expect bold, aromatic plates drawn from her family table and reimagined with flair.

The set menu promises a journey through textures and tradition. Highlights include the Laphet Hummus, a clever remix of tea leaves and chickpeas served with warm pita and the Samusa Thoke, a potato samosa salad brightened with mint and lime. There’s the Burmese take on Fish & Chips, made with pounded barramundi and crispy fish crackers, and the Wet Thar Biryani, where pork knuckle meets mango salad in a fragrant Burmese-style rice dish. For dessert, the Laphet-Yay Cheesecake keeps things light but nostalgic, a sweet ending that hums with familiar warmth.

It wouldn’t be a Club Rangoon night without a drink in hand. Expect natural wines from Venner’s thoughtful list and the Rangoon Negroni, a playful house twist on the classic made with coriander Campari and peanut oil-infused gin. And if that doesn’t get you in the mood, the soundtrack will: Susan, is crafting a playlist that promises as much flavour as the food.

The pop-up feels like more than just a collaboration; it’s a full-circle moment. Venner and Club Rangoon share roots, spirit, and a sense of purpose celebrating food that connects people, cultures, and memories. And for those who loved Club Rangoon’s original home on Aberdeen Street, this return carries a touch of magic: a chance to taste that familiar comfort once more, right where it all began.

There are only four sessions available across the two nights, and tables are expected to fill fast. It’s an intimate experience, one part dinner, one part reunion, and entirely unforgettable.

Because some flavours never really leave you. They just find their way back home. Book Your Seat.
