The space that once echoed with the energy of Drop and Quality Goods Club has been reborn, and this time, it’s dreaming in colour. Welcome to Yume, a new Japanese-inspired cocktail lounge and nightlife venue that’s quietly redefining how Hong Kong spends its nights out.

Tucked beneath On Lok House on Hollywood Road, Yume (“dream” in Japanese) feels worlds away from its predecessors. The basement, once a den of late-night revelry, has been transformed into a glowing cocoon of pink, yellow, and purple mood lighting, sleek surfaces, and comfortable booth seating. It’s elegant but relaxed, a space designed for conversation as much as cocktails.

Instead of waiting for the party to start at 11PM, Yume opens its doors from 7PM, embracing a slower, more considered rhythm. It’s for those who prefer to ease into the evening — a well-crafted drink in hand, good music playing low, and a seat that feels like yours for the night. The team behind the transformation describes it as “a place to talk, taste, and tune in,” and that balance between intimacy and energy is exactly what makes it work.

On the menu, the focus is on sharing plates and late-night snacks, expect dishes like tuna tartare topped with Oscietra caviar, Iberico pork katsu sandos, and Japanese beef curry empanadas, each bite designed for pairing and passing around, best enjoyed between rounds of cocktails. At the bar, Peru-born bartender Raiza Carrera leads with a Japanese-inflected cocktail menu that’s as inventive as it is approachable It’s a menu built for discovery — nuanced enough for cocktail lovers, yet palatable for light drinkers looking for something new.

Beyond the bar, Yume plans to host a music programme and cultural collaborations, bringing together the city’s creative crowd under one dreamlike roof. It’s nightlife with purpose; vibrant, inclusive, and just mysterious enough to keep you coming back. Soft opening hours are now underway, but even in its early days, Yume already feels like something new. A bar that doesn’t just serve drinks — it serves mood, imagination, and a reminder that Hong Kong still knows how to dream after dark.
