Matchali Central Opens with New Location Exclusive Matcha Menu
In a neighbourhood better known for late nights and caffeine fixes, Matchali arrives in Central with a gentler proposition. Hong Kong’s favourite matcha specialist has opened its second location on Lyndhurst Terrace, bringing its mindful, matcha-first philosophy from Wan Chai straight into the city’s daily rhythm.
Since opening on Moon Street in 2022, Matchali has quietly built a devoted following by doing one thing exceptionally well: treating matcha with care, intention, and respect. Every drink starts with ceremonial-grade tea, prepared using precise brewing methods that highlight depth, balance, and natural sweetness; no shortcuts, no distractions.
The Central location keeps the core menu fans love, while introducing several Lyndhurst-only highlights. The Banana Bread Matcha Latte is a comforting standout, blending ripe banana notes with earthy matcha for a smooth, dessert-leaning sip that never feels heavy. The Spanish Matcha Latte leans into indulgence, layering hand-whisked matcha with condensed milk for a rich, velvety finish that still lets the tea lead.
Food offerings follow the same thoughtful approach. Light yet satisfying options like Matcha Ricotta Strawberry Toast and the Matcha Yoghurt Granola Bowl sit alongside more substantial plates including Soft-Boiled Egg and Avocado Toast, Green Tea Soba Salad, and Kitsune Udon — ideal for a slow lunch or mid-day reset. Seasonal drinks also rotate through the menu, with festive favourites like White Chocolate Matcha and Apple Pie Matcha making timely appearances.
Designed by Brash Atelier, the space is calm and understated, with warm wood tones, bar seating for solo visits, and an outdoor bench that invites you to slow down amid Central’s buzz.
