Foxglove Bids Farewell: A Toast to a Decade of Jazz, Glamour, and Hidden Nights

Just after celebrating its 10-year anniversary, one of Hong Kong’s most beloved speakeasies has announced it’s closing its doors for good this December. The news came as a shock to regulars and first-timers alike, Foxglove, hidden behind the umbrella shop façade inside The Printing House, will dim its lights at the end of the year.

For the past decade, Foxglove has been more than just a bar. It’s been a stage, a sanctuary, and a time capsule, where live jazz mingled with clinking glasses, and guests dressed up just because the space deserved it. Step through its secret entrance, and you were instantly transported into another era: plush velvet seats, art deco glamour, polished wood, and the hum of a saxophone in the air. Known for its dim sum, inventive cocktails, and live music, Foxglove was a rare hybrid, a place that balanced elegance with warmth. It was the kind of bar where you could lose track of time, wrapped in candlelight and conversation, while the band played on. For many, it wasn’t just a night out — it was a ritual.

The announcement came directly from the team in a heartfelt Instagram post:

“My dear friends, old sports, and glittering revelers of the night, it is with a heavy heart that I must announce our grand finale. At the close of this year, my beloved speakeasy shall dim its lights for the last time, after an epic ten-year run that rivaled the most extravagant soirees of yesteryear.”

Foxglove’s farewell feels like the end of an era not just for Central’s nightlife, but for Hong Kong’s cocktail scene as a whole. It stood as a testament to how storytelling, design, and hospitality could come together to create something unforgettable. There’s still time for one last toast, one last melody, one last night in that moody blue light. Whether you’ve been once or a hundred times, December will be your final chance to step through those umbrellas and disappear into the golden glow of Foxglove.
