Jean May Closes Its Doors This Spring After Five Memorable Years

After five quietly impactful years in Wan Chai, Jean May will be closing its doors this spring. The restaurant announced that its final service will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, marking the end of a chapter that always felt deeply personal, intentional, and full of heart.

Named after chef Tiffany Lo’s grandmother, Jean May was never just another French bistro. From the start, it carried a sense of warmth and reverence, the kind that comes from cooking rooted in memory rather than trend. Tucked away on Gresson Street, surrounded by flower stalls and fruit vendors, the restaurant felt like a secret worth discovering, and one worth returning to again and again.

In her announcement, chef Tiffany Lo shared that while Jean May’s doors may be closing, this is not a full goodbye. The restaurant will host a series of celebratory collaborative events leading up to its final service, and more tellingly, she hinted that something new is already taking shape. Jean May, she says, will be “around with something else in the making.”

For now, there’s still time to return, to book a final meal, and to celebrate what Jean May has been. And perhaps, to quietly look forward to what comes next.
